[Interview] : More About SA YOUTH IN DESIGN

We recently blogged about The SA Youth In Design competition, we had the opportunity of speaking to Lerato from Lee Management to find out more about the event

Tell us more about Lee Management ?
Lee Management is a development entity that majors in developing brands through events and project management. we also manage artists, the likes of DJ Miza and DJ Speedsta to name a few. We are 8 months old and have already worked with the biggest brands in events, we have done sponsorship management for the Vaal Beach Party and the Royal Spring Party in Nandoni. We work closely with our PR and media consulting sister company, Aptitude Consulting.

What is the aim of this event?
SA YOUTH IN DESIGN is primarily aimed at developing young designers in SA to develop their brands and generate an income from their talent.

When and Where is the event?
The event is taking place on the 6th of October 2012 at the Dope Store, which is situated on 95 Commissioner Street. It is unfortunate that the event is by invite only. We have invited influential people in the world of design and fashion, retail buyers and future collaborators who will find interest in assisting to elevate the talents of the designers who will be showcasing.

Who are the judges and why were they chosen as judges?
The Judges are Paledi Segapo – Founder of Palse Homme – Hangwani Nengovhela – Founder of Rubicon Clothing and Andile Cele – Founder of D.O.P.E . They were all chosen for their business savvy and impeccable design and fashion acumen. They all started very hard and endured all difficulties of the design and fashion industry. They have remarkable experience and are in a better position to impart their knowledge and wisdom to the young designers. Most importantly they have reached the pinnacles that every aspiring designer uses a s a template of success in this industry.

What are the prizes?
•1st place: Business Consultancy Service by Palse for 3 Months – Sales Platform at The Dope Store and Thesis Concept Store – R10,000.00 in cash
•2nd place: Sales Platform at The Dope Store and Thesis Concept Store -R5,000.00 in cash
•3rd place: Sales Platform at The Dope Store and Thesis Concept Store -R3,500.00 in cash
