SISTA OF THE WEEK : Zenande Mfenyana


Most people know her as Noluntu Memela from SABC 1’s soapie Generations.

What most people don’t know is that she graduated with a BA Drama degree from the University of Pretoria in 2007. Shortly theafter she starred in an ABSA Corporate short film. She is a voice-over artist and is on the Voicebank, and has done several Radio Drama’s & Public Service Announcements for Umhlobo Wenene and other radio stations. She then made her debut into Children’s Theatre by playing the lead role of Rapunzel in Rapunzel: A Towering Tale which showed at Joburg Promusica Kidz.

She made her second appearance at Joburg Promusica in the play called Madiba Magic, where she played four different roles i.e A Spider, a Daughter, a Monkey and a Bird Maiden. The last play she performed in was called The Music Show. The show toured around Gauteng, Mpumalanga and Northwest primary and high schools. The songs in the show ranged from The Beegies to The Black Eyed Peas, it catered for young and old alike. The show was produced by The On Cue Theatre.

Zenande has done several voice-overs, for Soft-sheen Carson, Public Service Announcements for GCIS, FNB, Nestle, Vanish, Debonairs, Unicef voice over correspondent (Nigeria sanitation).

She starred in an Afrikaans musical movie called LIEFLING die movie. In it she plays the role of Thami, a rich snob that’s studying journalism at Tuks. The movie was produced by Paul Kruger and Linda Korsten of Hartiwood Productions and directed by Brian Webber. It was released in November 2010, and is currently being sold on dvd nationwide.

Zenande is an inspiring role model, this is why she is our SISTA OF THE WEEK.
