Survivor South Africa Champions Auditions

Survivor South Africa is back – with a twist that is rewriting international Survivor history. In a worldwide first, two sporting legends have been tasked to lead the tribes that will face hunger pains, the elements of nature, nasty creepy crawlies, and the game’s trademark plotting and scheming – all in the quest to become the next Ultimate Survivor.

Savanna and The CCA’s launches a night of comedy history at The Soweto Theatre

Off we went, shuttled in style from Sandown for what was a fantastic Tuesday night out. The Savanna Newcomer event, where 21 of South Africa’s best budding comic’s battle it out for the Title of Newcomer for the 2013 Comics Choice award. The wonderful Soweto theatre played venue to the Comic Choice event proudly hosted by Savanna.

John Vlismas got us right & ready as he introduced the first of; one of a kind the event. Kagiso Lediga broke all the rules as he hosted the entire & got our stomach’s in stitches & set the mood for what was to be a delightful evening filled with humour, great people & and amazingly talented performers.

An amazing line up of raw talent kept us chuckling our lives away in our seats and never was there single dull moment except one or two comics who had a case of what I may call UDS, unresponsive audience syndrome which did not at all over shadow what a case of laughs to remember.

Isaac; Rory; Nicolas; Zakkiya; Werner and not to forget the oh so wonderful gold crowned; Khotso Davids who had the crowd dying in tears and kept us going. It truly was the place to be and the future of stand-up comedy in South Africa is looking even better & funnier than ever before & I am certain

A complimentary drinks upon arrival & during intervals with a lovely variety of canapés & goodie bags left the media & invited guests happy. PS: A stellar well done to Magna Carta PR, and special mention to Fareed & he’s team for a well organised and well managed event.

Thanks to Savanna & all the people who ensured the smooth running of an event & giving you comedians the platform for them to be a part of one a kind event. A special night it was, to build the careers of a new bunch of comedians. Who I’m sure definitely will & do have a bright future in comedy.

The nominee announcement takes place on 17 July 2013.

Visit for details. The award ceremony takes place at The Teatro at Montecasino on 24 August 2013, and is in association with The Times, Mzansi Magic and Kaya FM.

No Miss SA 2013

Sun International has made an announcement that there will be No Miss SA pageant this year and that Miss SA will only be crowned in March 2014.

Sue Klerck of Sun International said: “It made huge sense to move the pageant from December to March. It allows the title holder to compete internationally at the Miss World and Miss Universe pageants, which are typically held during the last two months in the year of their reign.

Entries for Miss South Africa 2014 open on July 8 2013 and close on August 31 2013. Entry forms will be available online from Monday, July 8 2013, at and

I really hope we don’t reach a point where they cancel the Miss SA pageant like they did with Miss SA Teen! 😦
