The Leading Women Series

Two inspiring ladies,Sihle Bolani and Lucille Gumbi have launched a women’s networking platform named “The Leading Women Series”

The guiding principle behind the platform is to provide an opportunity for women to meet monthly, listen to talks from guest speakers who are experts in their fields, encourage discussions and empower women with knowledge, new connections and tools that can be applied to all aspects of their lives.
Every month they will tackle different themes. Themes will range from entrepreneurship and business to balancing family life, health and beauty.

Each session will host 160 young, urban women at the Fire & Ice hotel at Melrose Arch, Johannesburg. The first event is on the 24th of August 2013 and the guest speakers include Metro FM’s Unathi Msengana and Communications expert, Lulu Letlape.

We love women empowering initiatives and we will be supporting the Leading Women Series 🙂

Russell Brand adds 2 shows to his SA tour

The overwhelming response to the forthcoming South African tour by comedian, actor and author, Russell Brand in November this year has led to the promoters of the SA leg of the tour, Showtime Management announcing two extra shows.

Starlight Express Mega Musical Opening Night

I am a sucker for musicals and theatre shows so when I received an invite to attend a show at the Joburg Theatre, you can only imagine how excited I was.

Starlight Express was the name of the show and we caught up with the Creator of the show Andrew Lloyd Webber, who said “Starlight Express started life in 1975 as a sort of Cinderella story, which I hoped would be an animated movie. It never got off the ground. Then in 1983 I rewrote it for my children Imogen and Nicholas, in the version that opened in March 1984 at the Apollo Victoria Theatre in London. Nine years later we revised Starlight and new music was dedicated to my son Alastair. The London show ran for 18 years making it one of the longest running musicals in London theatre history.

Starlight was always meant to be fun, hopefully an entertaining piece of live theatre for a new audience. We are all proud that the show has spawned a new generation of artists and theatre-goers who perhaps never considered going to the theatre before and who may have gone on to other perhaps more conventional things ”

The show was AMAZING!!! The audience had the aaah moments and WOW moments. The show was well rehearsed and everything was on point .

Cast of Starlight Express:

•Ferdinard Gernandt – Electra
•Carly Graeme – Pearl
•Bongi Mthombeni – Poppa McCoy
•David Schlachter – Rusty
•Ziyanda Yako –Dinah
•Andrew Webster – Greaseball

I spotted Lucia Cooper and her daughter.

5 Rule I Live By

1. I create a to-do list at the end of every day and I follow that to-do list starting first thing the next morning.

2. I sleep at 7pm and wake up at 6am.

3. When someone make me angry, I take a deep breathe and walk away. It’s really not worth it.

4. Speak to my mother everyday.

5. I am guided by these two phrases: a) “Nothing matters.” – By this, I mean that arguing on the internet changes nothing, I can only work towards the major, massive goals that I have set for my life… that I have a vision of helping others, and there is no time to let petty arguments stand in the way. b) “It will all be over soon.” – This serves me in both good times and in bad. In hard times, such as bad days, troubled times, or intense physical effort or discomfort, I know that it will all be over soon. A small amount of suffering now will be forgotten later when I will enjoy the rewards of my work. And in good times, I will remember that life is short, and I must make things count now, and no matter how good things are going I must never let myself become soft and lazy, because I have too much to accomplish in such a short time.
