Boichoko Qwabe better known as Choko, is a talented young lady born in Bloemfontein and bred in Kroonstad, she studied B.Soc.Sc at the University of the Free State, entered music industry at a very tender age. She was actively involved in school choirs, at varsity she became the lead singer for the University of the Free State Gospel Choir which saw her making her first appearance on SABC 2 Gospel Time in April 05. She was also a member of the Bloemfontein Ensemble Gospel Group that reached the semi finals of the Gospel Stars in 2005.

On the 2nd of November, Boichoko Qwabe will showcase her music to the masses as she puts on a live show. Set at The Promusica Theatre in Roodeport, CHOKO LIVE promises to be the sultry singer’s official introduction into the world of music. Supported by music heavy weights such as Kwela Tebza and Howza, Choko is thrilled to finally share her music which she has been working on for a couple of years.

More than sharing her talent, CHOKO LIVE is an evening dually dedicated to raising funds to support one of the causes close to Choko’s heart; “

The Book Cover Initiative”, a project Choko initiated to address the lack of educational stationery for children from impoverished backgrounds. Choko was also actively involved in the Zazi Zithande Zithembe (Know Yourself, Love Yourself and Trust Yourself) initiative that’s headed by actresses Salamina Mosese and Lusanda Mbane.

It’s a first that an artist records and packages an album, THEN puts on a show for various music executives and labels to sign her up. The concept behind it would be interesting to discover.
